Wine Every Night = Weight Loss Magic?

Let's explore an often debated topic: Can you still enjoy a drink and shed those extra kilos successfully?

Wine and Alcohol, because wine is not Alcohol, LOL.

Imagine this: You're a 60-year-old woman, let's call you Dee, who's just had a check-up. Impressed with your health, your doctor asks, "Dee, what's your secret?"

"Well, doctor, I have one wine every night." She said.

Dee was convinced that one drink every night was good for her health.

Dees' husband Bill also had the same conviction but drank 3-4 wines a night and weighed 135 kgs.

Dee wasn't very concerned about weight loss, but the question remains highly relevant.

Can we drink and be healthy?

Let's be real here: many of us enjoy a glass of wine, and some of us, well, we're not afraid to admit we love a few more than that! But when we're on a weight loss journey, is it necessary to cut out Alcohol completely?

Alcohol's Disruptive Patterns

OK, here comes the science….read it, though.

Alcohol can interfere with weight-loss and metabolism-balancing efforts because it is high in calories (second only to fat) and, like fats and carbs, is metabolized to acetyl CoA. When acetyl CoA is present in high amounts, the body sees no reason to burn other fuels.

So, when you drink, you are more likely to store your calories as fat rather than burn them.

Does that mean I should Avoid Alcohol Completely?

You may be wise to choose to avoid Alcohol when you're trying to lose weight. However, I have also seen people have wine almost nightly and be able to attain and maintain a lean, healthy body. Not common, I will add, so don't get your hopes up too high LOL.

The trick is to know what does and does not work for you.

The truth is, small amounts of Alcohol (note: I said small) can undoubtedly be part of some people's fat-loss formula. You can still enjoy a glass of wine while working towards your weight loss goals with the right balance. Whether it is for you or not will take some detective work, but it's a possibility worth exploring.

Understanding Interactions Between Foods is Critical

If you want a glass of wine with dinner, here's a tip: don't eat starch and fat in your meal, and also drink Alcohol. Make a conscious effort to avoid this trio combination.

For instance, choose fish, a plate of vegetables, and either a glass of wine or half a sweet potato, but not both.

Experimenting is not just a suggestion; it's a key to unlocking your unique health journey. My goal is to provide you with structured flexibility, empowering you to make informed choices about your alcohol consumption and weight loss goals.

Now, I am genuinely interested in learning from all of you. Your questions, experiences, and insights are valuable to our community. Let's continue this conversation and support each other in our health and wellness journeys.
